Open Letters To Conservation Minister Concerning Doc Restructuring
A series of open letters have been sent to the Minister of Conservation by Dave Galloway (FRSNZ, FLS, Hon. Life President, International Association for Lichenology) and Alan Mark (CBE, KNZM, FRSNZ, Emeritus Professor of Botany, University of Otago) in response to the Department of Conservation’s organisational review. They express concern at the reduction in number of technical and science staff involved in biodiversity and biosecurity work and the relocation of others to “centres” thereby seriously weakening their currently important level of involvement in local programmes.
