Network’s Submission On the Game Animal Council Bill
The Network has made a submisison on the proposed Game Animal Council Bill.
The Network recommends that the Bill should not be enacted and identifies 40 threatened indigenous vascular plants that are known to be threatened by feral game species. The Network also proposes that the Department of Conservation should retain statutory management and decision making functions with regard to game management.
However, if a Game Council Bill does proceed then the Network has made a number of suggestions to ensure the protection of indigenous plant species and ecosystems are adequately protected from the impacts of game species.
