Detailed description
The ascomata, which are 0.5–0.7 x 0.3–0.4 mm, are elliptic to more or less ovate in outline. Immature ascocarps are black-walled with a broad, pale zone along the future line of opening. The mature ascocarps are usually black-walled, with a black, flattened area lining both sides of the ascocarp opening. Asexual pycnidia associated with the ascomata are 0.2–0.3 mm in diameter. They are pale in the centre, dark brown at the edges, and immersed. The ascospores are 100–140 x 1.5–2 µm, 0–1 septate, with a gelatinous sheath. The conidia are 2.5–3 x 1 µm, cylindric, hyaline, and 0-septate.
Fruiting
This fungus was collected in March, May, and August of 1984.
