Brief description
Characterised by the lignicolous habit; the obsolete, effuse, whitish or pale greyish thallus; scattered, discrete, sessile black apothecia, 0.1–0.3 mm diam.; and oval to fabiform ascospores, 12–15.5 × 5–8.5 μm.
Distribution
North Island: Northland to Wellington. South Island: Nelson to Southland.
Habitat
Widespread on telephone poles, and decorticated wood (fenceposts, gates etc.), s.l. to 1650 m (on wooden snow fences on the summit of the Old Man Range).
Detailed description
Thallus ± obsolete, effuse whitish or pale greyish, lignicolous or corticolous. Apothecia scattered, discrete 0.1-0.3 mm diam., sessile, black, matt, epruinose, subconcave to plane, margin thin, black, persistent or occluded. Ascospores oval to fabiform, apices rounded, slightly constricted at septum, 12-15.3 × 5.1-8.3 µm, locules equal, rounded to angular.
