Detailed description
Clump-forming bamboo, forming dense clumps but not running extensively. Stems usually 3–5m × 1–2 cm diameter and at least some stems striped yellow and green; several branches at each node. Culm sheaths with black hairs that are soon shed (caducous). Leaf-blade linear-lanceoloate, 6–15 cm × 0.6–1.5 cm, glaucous, hairy underneath.
